Welcome
to the portal site of the Belgian Commissions for UNESCO
Ever since its establishment in 1945, Belgium has been a member state of UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. We all know UNESCO’s World Heritage, but the organization is also deeply committed to quality education for all, worldwide scientific programs and press freedom.
In 2021, we celebrate UNESCO's 75th anniversary.
The National Commissions for UNESCO act as a liaison between UNESCO and the governmental bodies, civil society, and academic and cultural circles in a member state. There are two National Commissions for UNESCO in Belgium: the Flemish Commission for UNESCO and the Belgian Francophone and German speaking Commission for UNESCO.
